Shaping the future of good biomass

SBP is a not-for-profit, multi-stakeholder, voluntary certification scheme dedicated to assuring the sustainable sourcing of biomass, such as wood pellets, chips, biochar, biocarbon, and other processed wood-based products, used across energy, industry, and beyond.

As part of the renewable resource mix, sustainably sourced biomass plays a vital role in global decarbonisation efforts. SBP’s purpose is to expand the contribution of good biomass to the bioeconomy through a credible and robust certification scheme that assures responsible practice throughout the biomass supply chain.

To maintain our position as the leading voluntary certification scheme for biomass, we are committed to:

  • Support for good biomass across the supply chain
  • Sector-leading corporate and stakeholder governance
  • Robust and transparent Standards
  • Technical excellence and innovation
