SBP EUDR Module available to support compliance

As preparations continue for the implementation of the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR), we would like to remind Certificate Holders that the SBP EUDR module is available to support compliance activities.

The EUDR, which entered into force in June 2023, introduces due diligence requirements to ensure that relevant products placed on, or exported from, the EU market are deforestation-free, legally produced, and fully traceable.

Following recent legislative updates, the main application date for the Regulation is currently set for 30 December 2026 for medium and large operators, with an extended timeline to 30 June 2027 for micro and small enterprises.

Whilst these timelines provide additional time for preparation, the Regulation itself has undergone substantive changes since 2023. The core obligations and environmental objective remain intact. Primary (medium and large) operators are still required to undertake the full three-step due diligence process (information gathering, risk assessment, and risk mitigation), and the goal of deforestation-free supply chains is preserved. However, the distribution and administrative burden of these obligations has been adjusted, with a greater share concentrated on primary operators and measures introduced to ease the requirements on downstream and smaller actors. At the same time, supporting guidance, technical systems, and implementation measures continue to be developed at EU level, reflecting the scale and complexity of the transition.

The SBP EUDR module has been developed to support Certificate Holders in preparing for these requirements by facilitating the collection, management, and verification of relevant supply chain data. This includes supporting traceability and due diligence processes aligned with EUDR obligations.

Early engagement is encouraged, particularly given the complexity of data collection, geolocation requirements, and supply chain verification. The SBP EUDR module provides a practical tool to support this process and help streamline compliance as implementation approaches.

Further information on the SBP EUDR module is available on the SBP website here.
